candle mountain + Empty Boxes

After the death of my second mother in January of 2022, I experienced the depths of grief that one might imagine. I also had two revelations - one about repressed trauma from my childhood, and one about my own neurodivergence. I have explored these two issues as facets of my grief over the past 2 years through quilt work, an obsession with candle-lighting and melted wax, and photographing objects left behind. Both of these rituals bring parts of my childhood to life that I have been disconnected from for over 30 years. Through these processes, I have given purpose to my time and the love and pain I wish to express. Some of these works are currently on view at the Overture Center for the Arts.
