I have missed you (Community Care is the Intimacy I Need) is a patchworked banner covering an entire porch in Madison, WI as a part of the Terrain Biennial. The banner is made of used pillowcases and discarded fabric, and the title is appliqued across the banner in large red block letters.

I am an artist and a parent that also manages a community focused arts organization. Since March of 2020, I have watched artists increase their focus on building community powered coalitions and mutual aid networks. These networks have been built in a more intentional way due to the pandemic, and it truly has been what I needed to see and experience in my life.

This is a love letter to the creative folks that have helped and challenged each other (and me) to grow + survive the past handful of years. The pandemic is not gone, racial justice has not been achieved, equity in all areas of work and life are still lacking - but I see the work many around me are doing and I appreciate them.

The project was up until November 15, 2021. There was a takeaway poster for viewers. The work was installed on the 1300 block of Jenifer Street, in Madison, WI.

This work is currently on view at the Rochester Art Center as a part of the exhibition Chronicles of the Chronic.
